Pell Grant Status After Online Applications

As there are various ways of submitting your form for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (via mail on paper, or electronically through filling out the form online), there are also multiple ways of receiving the response of your application and finding out your Pell Grant status. If you have chosen to submit your application online, you should be aware of its advantages: being able to fill out part of the form, and then coming back to fill the rest; benefiting from the checks made by the online system if you happen to enter an illogical date of birth or an invalid Social Security Number; receiving online help through hints provided next to the form for every piece of information you will enter; and sending the completed form at an instant. None the less, the advantages of submitting an online application are not restricted to these only. Online services become even more advantageous as you expect to be acknowledged about your Pell Grant status. Here is how.

It will be good news for you to hear that if you have submitted your application form online, you may expect to be informed about your status quite early. There are two ways through which you can find out your Pell Grant status after making the application. The first one is through e-mail. Students who have made an online application should expect the information regarding their Pell Grant status to be sent to their e-mail inbox. Under normal circumstances, the e-mail is sent on the first business day after you submit your application. This quick reply is one reason why students are encouraged to make online applications for Pell Grants.

The other method through which you can learn your Pell Grant status is by using the same online facilities you had used while making your application. If you are using this method, you can find out your status immediately after submitting the application. What you should do is quite simple as well: First, you need to go to the home page of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid on the Web by entering to your address bar. To find out your status, you will need to click on “Start Here” to log in to your account. After logging in, you will be directed to a new web page. On this page, you will see columns. The third column is of interest to you, the one that carries the name “FAFSA Follow Up”. Among many other links in the column, you will see the item “Check Status of Grant” at the top of the column. This link will take you to where you want to be, telling you the status of your Pell Grant.

Interpreting HTTP Status Codes

HTTP status codes are a standardized set of numbers a web server uses to respond to a web browser in a concise manner.

When a user enters a URL in the address field of a web browser and clicks “Go”, the browser is making a request from a web server. In response, the web server sends back a status code and in most cases some text that is in HTML format.

The status code makes it easy to know exactly what happened at a particular moment on a web server and help website monitoring software determine how to act.

HTTP status codes are broken up in groups by number:

  • 100-199: Informational
  • 200-299: Success
  • 300-399: Redirection
  • 400-499: Client Error
  • 500-599: Server Error

The 100 HTTP status codes are typically used by proxies to indicate that the request should continue and are infrequently encountered by the Internet population as a whole. When monitoring, HTTP status codes in this group should normally indicate success.

The 200 HTTP status code group indicates the perfectly fulfilled request 99.99999% of the time. In the monitoring of a website, HTTP status codes in this group should normally indicate success unless one is not expecting for example, “HTTP 204: no info to return” – an odd and rare HTTP status code.

The 300 HTTP status codes always indicate redirection or the server’s attempt to fulfill a request by sending the client to a different location or web page with the exception of “300: server couldn’t decide what to return”. HTTP status code 300 should be handled as a failure, where as all other 300s should be handled as success with additional internal actions to be taken.

The 400 HTTP status code group indicates an error on the part of the requester, typically the web browser. Failures from this group include the well known “404: object not found” which can mean that the web page was moved, deleted, or the requested URL was mistyped. Other important 400 HTTP status codes include “401: access denied” which indicates that the requested URL requires authentication: the client should provide authentication credentials or the authentication credentials provided were incorrect.

The 500 HTTP status codes denote an error fulfilling the request on the web server. “500: internal server error” is a common error that typically means that an error may have occurred in the web server software or a web application running within the web server software. “503: temporarily overloaded” is considered a severe error which should be addressed immediately as it can mean that the web server is under malicious attack or a web application contains an error that is causing total failure to fulfill new requests.

In conclusion, HTTP status codes provide a quick and easy way to categorize and identify the state of a web server at any given moment. By configuring your website monitoring software to trigger success or failure based on HTTP status codes, one can have a good handle on the health of a server.

Correct Filing Status – How to Determine Yours

When filing taxes, you will have to fill in lots of information on your tax forms. Some of the information that is entered into the first part of your forms will be the most important. That is your tax identification number and your filing status. Read on to find out how to determine your correct filing status.

The filing status that an individual uses on their tax return can make a big difference. For example, entering the incorrect filing status could mean missing out on deductions. It could cause you to be audited by the IRS, since they might decide that the mistake was intentional. Filing with the correct status, however, will earn you the proper deduction.

Depending on a person’s filing status and taxable income, it is possible they might not have to file taxes and can thus avoid any possibility of owing the government money. Some available tax deductions only apply to individuals with a specific filing status.

The IRS has established five different filing statuses. They are Single, Married Filing Jointly, Married Filing Separately, Head of Household, and Qualifying Widow with Dependent Child. Your personal status on the last day of the year will be used to determine what filing status you should use when filing your taxes for that year.

Single – This filing status is used by anyone who is not married or is no longer married. The deductions are lower and the tax rates are higher for people whose filing status is single.

Married Filing Jointly – Married people are able to decide whether they would like to file their taxes together or separately. If married individuals will receive a larger tax refund by filing separately, they can do so. Filing separately, however, will prevent them from getting some tax credits, like the Earned Income Credit. This is because some tax credits are only available to people with the Married Filing Jointly status.

Married Filing Separately – Married individuals choose to file separately for a wide variety of reasons. Often it is because one of them has some kind of issue with their taxes that might make them owe more money by filing jointly than they do by filing separately.

Head of Household – Single parents benefit from the Head of Household filing status. People filing under this tax status get a higher standard deduction and pay a lower tax rate than those filing under the Single status.

Qualifying Widow(er) with Dependent Child – This filing status, like its name indicates, is for previously married people who have been widowed and left with a child. As long as the widowed individual does not remarry, they can file their taxes with this status for a maximum of two years.

Very Funny Facebook Statuses to Make You Laugh

Very funny Facebook statuses make people laugh. They make people want to visit your Facebook page because they look forward to what you are going to say next. Let’s face it- Facebook is huge. It is growing to be an everyday hobby of millions of people’s lives. The Facebook phenomenon is growing each day.

What is Facebook? Facebook is a social networking site that has given so many people the opportunity to reconnect with former friends and family that they have lost contact with throughout the years. Without Facebook and other social networking sites, they probably would never have reconnected with those people. What does that mean to me?? It’s priceless. I use Facebook for so much. I update my pictures so my friends and family can see how my family is growing, I chat with people, I stay updated on others lives, I play games and basically just look forward to getting on Facebook a lot.

I don’t know about you but I work in an environment with several negative people. That is an emotional downer for me. Who really likes to be around someone that does nothing but consistently complain? It is mentally and physically draining. This is why I look forward to posting funny Facebook statuses all the time and inspirational quotes. People like to be around people who make them laugh and make them feel good. I like my Facebook to be like an online amusement park. I just really enjoy posting funny Facebook statuses. I get so many likes and comments and people just really enjoy talking to me on Facebook. That makes me feel good. People like to laugh and laughter is really the best medicine.

Don’t get me wrong. I also chat, debate and vent on Facebook as well. That is what it was made for. It’s a social networking site – LOL. It was made to be social. I am admitting that I am a total Facebook addict. This is really the only social networking site that I belong too. I also wont lie- I use it as a tool to spy on my teenage daughter as well. I stalk her page consistently. It’s funny though because her teenage friends love to be my Facebook friends. A few of them that I have known for years had sent me friend requests and I accepted them. Needless to say, word got around about how goofy my Facebook was and a bunch of them started sending me friend requests too. I didn’t mind. It was a way for me to watch out for them also (to make sure they were practicing safe internet practices too)- as being my Facebook friends allows me to also see what they write on their Facebook pages. Posting funny Facebook statuses not only allows me the opportunity to make others laugh, it helps me to keep an eye on my own daughter’s Facebook page. I consider it the best form of parental control.

I also noticed that once I started posting funny Facebook statuses and inspirational quotes, more and more of my own Facebook friends (I have about 550 of them) started doing that as well. It’s great. I look forward to helping others towards positive thinking and laughter. I have spent a lot of time and energy over the years reading self help and self improvement books. We all have complaints and stresses but nobody wants to hear negativity all the time. It is stressful and that’s a fact.

Hospitals Earning Magnet Status Looking for Nurses With a BSN

Magnet status is an achievement awarded to hospitals that satisfy a set criteria designed by the nursing profession to measure the strength and quality of their nursing standards and practices. A Magnet facility is stated to be one where nursing delivers excellent patient outcomes, where nurses have a high level of job satisfaction, and where the nursing staff turnover rate is low. Magnet status is awarded and administered by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center (ANCC), as part of the Magnet Recognition Program for Excellence in Nursing.

Currently there are fewer than 400 facilities with Magnet status. These include facilities in the US, Australia, Lebanon, and Singapore. In part, by achieving Magnet status, hospitals hope to demonstrate a variety of characteristics, including, but not limited to, quality nursing leadership, professional models of care and professional development. As a result, hospitals are encouraging current and future employees to advance their education, including earning a BSN degree. This trend is evident at Salem Hospital in Salem, Oregon, which achieved the distinction of becoming a Magnet organization in 2010. Registered nurses at Salem Hospital have taken steps to advance their education, with many choosing to complete their BSN through Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing’s online RN to BSN program.

“The nursing profession in general has trended toward a high level of academic achievement,” said Ann Sukalac, Linfield College Instructor and Advisor who works with many Salem Hospital RNs. “Linfield’s RN to BSN program has noticed a correlated trend between nurses working to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and hospitals looking to achieve and to maintain Magnet Status.”

Accreditation is extremely valuable in health care, as consumers are becoming more educated and discriminatory in selecting their health provider. Individuals will look for objective benchmarks, such as Magnet status, to aid their decision.

Facilities that earn Magnet status must continue to encourage and provide opportunities for advanced education to their employees to maintain this award, as it’s not a lifetime designation. This encourages hospitals to look for registered nurses who have a strong desire to increase their academic achievement and learning.

Magnet status designation is an example of an organization’s and their nursing staff’s commitment to delivery of high quality of care to the community and to provide professional advancement. The trend is that more registered nurses are now considering going back to school to earn their BSN degree, so they can better contribute in helping their hospital earn this gold standard in patient care.
